PURPOSE OF CALIFORNIA-PACIFIC BLACK METHODISTS FOR CHURCH RENEWAL:
- To empower Black Methodists for effective witness and service among Pastors, Laypersons in local churches, the Annual Conference, Schools and the larger community.
- To encourage & involve Black Methodists & others in the struggle for economic & social justice.
- To expose latent & overt forms of racism in all local, regional & national agencies & institutions of the United Methodist Church within the bounds of the Annual Conference.
- To act as an activist on all boards and agencies of the United Methodist Church, within the bounds of the Annual Conference, in order to keep them sensitive to the needs and expressions of a “genuinely” inclusive and relevant church.
- To keep before the Church the crucial issues facing us by initiating action and supporting Church and community agencies which realistically deal with the needs of black people.
- To encourage representation on all boards and agences and they they should have the approval of the Black Caucus.
